I grew up on the Tarzan, Conan, Doc Savage (and many others) paperbacks my dad gave me and the Marvel, DC, Charlton, Gold Key, and whatever brand of comics that looked good throughout the sixties and seventies, as well as favorite Sunday comics such as Li’l Abner, Steve Canyon, and others, and all of these things have totally influenced my art. And I was lucky to have artistic parents who allowed me the freedom to pursue my love of art and illustration.
I also read a lot of “Underground” comics, aka “comix”, and Heavy Metal, Mad, Creepy and others that influenced me, and I might even have indulged in a somewhat “underground” life style, in my youth, (c’mon, it was the ’70s) and that, too, influenced me—so this comic is the result of a lot of influences!
It is also the result of the tons of support and encouragement given to me by my loving wife, Colette, and mother-in-law, Marguerite, here in Chula Vista, California, where I still indulge in a somewhat underground lifestyle. (I spend a lot of time in the basement.)
